Discussion of "u'ai"

Wuzzy (Fri May 23 15:40:45 2014)

Apart from the “neutral” emotion (“u'aicu'i”), how does this word
differ from “.u'a”? AFAIK “.u'a” does not imply superiority
either. For superiority there is another attidudinal, “ga'i”.

Gain can come even without struggle or even without struggle against an
oppnoent. It also does not necessarily imply accomplishment or the
happiness of success that this word could encapsulate (although happiness
of success should be recognized to differ from sheer happiness). Victory
does not even necessarily imply any gain, arguably.
Note: I should have said "superiority/gloating". In some sense, victory
does imply at least serendipitous and transient superiority.
