I was having issues deciding on how I wanted the "c" in (taxonomic)
"Spinacia" to be pronounced. Old Latin would have it as /k/, English would
imply what would be rendered in Lojban as "tc", guessing and other
languages would lead to /s/, Spanish etymology would lead to /k/ but
Italian etymology would lead to "tc", Persian etymology does "x", and New
Latin could be pretty much any of these or "c". In the end, I chose
tobkeep the spelling and to consider it as a New Latin word. <

Well, the CLL has a rough outline for lending scientific names: http://dag.github.io/cll/4/8/ It is not clear how to deal with a “c”, but it strongly suggest to convert this little “c” into a “k”, which would create the word “spinakia” in Lojban. Are you happy with that?
