This is a discursive (perhaps tangentially tinged with emotion) not a
command that manipulates composition of utterances. The English is a poor
substitute, I admit.

ta'onai is "returning to the main topic". That is quite different in
meaning from "continuing in that line", even without the coloration of the
latter to be despite the utterer's better judgment.
