Discussion of "bagyce'a"

eitan postav (Sat Jan 26 00:54:15 2013)

bagyce'a is not that bad, but here are its weak points as I see it:
1. b2 gets thrown out.
2. Metaphysically speaking, it's incomplete, because a bow's prod/lath
(the bendy stereotypically-wooden part of a bow) should not have to be
curved for the bow to be considered a bow.
3. It has a place for the material of the prod/lath yet not for that of
the string.

Anyway, I've created skogarce'a as a replacement. Basically I changed
bargu to garna (so basically a change from bargu2 (arched-over
thing/space) to garna2 (supported/restrained thing, namely the bow string,
though la'anai this is an abuse of language)) and made skori explicit
(which neatly brings in to the relation what material the bow string is
made of).

You'll notice, of course, that skogarce'a does not distinguish between
bows, crossbows, siege crossbows, and whatever else uses the mechanism of
firing described in its notes, but let's not rush to make that distinction
merely because English (if your best language is English) does, hey?
